Dove Inn, a Golden, CO Bed & Breakfast

IMG_7934.jpg

A picturesque bed and breakfast situated on the hill overlooking the best of Golden, CO, the Dove Inn is perfect in every way.

For our recent anniversary, my husband and I chose a staycation in beautiful Golden, CO. Given current travel restrictions and the state of the world, we felt being close to home and the kids would be ideal. Dove Inn offered us the perfect retreat from reality. As an industry professional, I’ve been to many special places and stayed in some truly one-of-a-kind spaces. I can say that this was my favorite bed and breakfast experience to date.

Immediately when you walk in, the hotel greets you with the COOLEST lobby. Filled with warm woods, original tile work, velvet covered furnishings, a gorgeous staircase up to the rooms, a unique coffee/kombucha bar, a shared kitchen and easily my favorite thing, a pulley system which runs the overhead fans. My mind always goes to how this could be utilized in the wedding industry. I would highly suggest as a honeymoon stay, anniversary stay or you could rent the Inn out completely for family or your wedding party for a unique, luxurious experience. The kombucha and coffee are all locally sourced and the bar itself boasts an iPad with tutorials from area baristas on how to make the perfect pour. The hotel offers an aeropress, pour over and nitro. Yes, please!

Each of the guest rooms is different. We had the pleasure of staying in the Aspen room. The perfectly appointed bathroom was private off of the entrance and then the main space boasts an incredibly comfortable queen bed, a cozy living space with romantic velvet, and a soaking tub as well. The decor was minimal but perfectly placed. As a Montana native the Charles M Russell book really spoke to me. The tub had a quaint wooden chair with bath bomb and terrycloth robes hanging nearby. I am a huge sucker for robes, so they got me.

Once we looked around the Inn we went exploring just steps outside of the front door. It was a perfect night, so after an hour walking about we landed on the Thai restaurant across the street, with some sake to go. We ate on the front patio while overlooking the beauty of surrounding mountains and downtown Golden.

Golden itself has so much to offer from kayaking, to hiking to biking and beyond. The Dove Inn was the perfect place to enjoy Colorado as both a local and a tourist. I would recommend to anyone who can make their way there.

Eclectic Southwest

This shoot will forever be an all-time favorite. Our bohemian and southwestern inspired look was featured in the Rocky Mountain Bride magazine summer issue. We partnered with many of our favorite vendors from Bozeman in the most beautiful setting near Yellowstone National Park. The Under Canvas tent setup was so cool to see in person and we would recommend it for a fun camping getaway, event or wedding.

We were inspired by the bright and bold colors of an authentic Mexican blanket when dreaming up the design for this shoot. We wanted to combine bright fun colors from the Mexican southwestern vibe along with wheat, greenery and natural accents from Yellowstone Montana. We couldn’t have been more thrilled with how everything came together. One of the things we love the most is being able to choose the vendors we want to work with. We believe that when you all understand the overall design concept and you allow the vendors creative freedom to interpret the design on their own, that is when the magic happens.

Check out the photos below, we were blown away by the florals, lounge furniture and super fun cake. You can also find this beauty in print in the Rocky Mountain Bride Montana Summer issue.

Modern Muse

Modern muse was inspired by blending industrial art and feminine styles together. Haven, an art gallery in Casper, plays host to this modern yet romantic day designed by yours truly.

Canary yellow, blush, and ivory soft silks paired with copper metal accents and natural wood textures were the inspiration behind this styled shoot. We wanted to bring in a soft romantic vibe to a space filled with concrete and metal textures to complete the look.

Let your wedding day showcase who you two are as a couple! Take the things and styles that you love and blend them to create something unique to you both! Your wedding day is all about your love story, so capture it with the elements that define you!

Brianna + Andrew

Brianna and Andrew are one of those couples that are always laughing, joking and being goofy. You can feel their love and connection the second you meet them. I mean just check out their ceremony photos, the emotion captured is breathtaking.

Brianna and Andrew's wedding was at Deep Creek Range which sits in Paradise Valley, Montana. Let's just say there is a reason John Mayer titled an entire album Paradise Valley. Paradise Valley, Montana is just south of Livingston on the way to Yellowstone National Park. The skies in that part of Montana are home to many pastel colors and mountain peaks that have really sharp edges. When Brianna and Andrew told us we would be celebrating their special day there we jumped for joy. We were inspired by lavender, herbs, lots of greenery, ivory, white, copper, gold and grey when creating the overall look and feel for this day.

Thank you to Fran for capturing such a special wedding. It will be forever one of our favorites! Cheers to Brianna and Andrew!

Set the Soiree

There's always an excuse for a dinner party, especially this time of year. Family gatherings, Friendsgiving, holiday parties. It's all about friends and family coming together to eat, drink and connect.

We set out to design three different table settings with connection in mind. Whether it comes to planning a wedding, throwing a dinner party, or styling an event we strive to showcase love and connection. Nothing hits home more than supporting local businesses and connecting with other likeminded individuals in our community.

The three concepts we designed were A Global Setting, Minimalist Minded and Local is The New Black.

  • A Global Setting was inspired by African and Peruvian textiles from Jamie Lauren Designs. We wanted to showcase a bright, laid back table setting that would look great in a friend's back yard.
  • Minimalist Minded was inspired by the beautiful clay pieces from Two Hands Full. We wanted to showcase a grey and ivory pallet with pops of color and texture from different food items.
  • Lastly, our favorite table Local is The New Black was created with a local, foraged, dark and moody pallet. We wanted to show that using dark rich colors with wild florals can be insanely beautiful.

At the end of the day, we hope to inspire you all at home to invite your friends and family over for some delicious local food and to remember that love is the most important thing. Let's also not forget about food, because let's face it, food is the bomb.

Sara + Sean

Talk about a fairytale. Sara and Sean chose Big Sky Montana as their wedding destination and we were so happy they did. The couple met in Bozeman at MSU but were living in Denver during their engagement. They realized they wanted to celebrate their wedding day in the state where they fell in love and have one last hoorah before starting the next chapter in their lives.

Blush, ivory, light greys, dusty blues, gold, copper and classic black were the colors that inspired our design. Sara and Sean wanted to create a day that was unique, romantic, classic, yet had personal touches that were all their own. The classic car that they drove away in was the same car that Sara's parents drove on their wedding day!

Jeremiah and Rachel's style of photography captured this purely romantic day. Enjoy!

Maia + Beau

A classic western, home town wedding like no other. Maia and Beau's nuptials were all heart and history. A true blending of families in a very uniquely modern but old fashioned way. This day took us back to the love stories like they used to be, truly pulling on all of heart strings.

This wedding was very special to us. Knowing the couple since we were young kids, we knew we would be touched the entire weekend. We were right! Both Maia and Beau are loved in their communities so their marriage was a celebration for all. They made the hi-line very proud on their big day. This entire weekend was a celebration of two amazing families uniting into one HUGE group. We wish we could go back to celebrate 100 more times.

The Avant-Garde Groom

Whiskey. Cigars. Handsome Men. Edgy Style.

We are constantly pushing our clients to be who they are and let their personalities shine on their wedding day. We truly believe that the union of two people should reflect who those two people are at the core. We seek a less traditional approach that usually leads to a very intimate, unique and personal experience for the couple and their wedding guests.

We want to encourage grooms to take a more unique approach to their wedding day attire. Throw the traditional or lackadaisical attitude out the window guys. Let’s bring more style to your wedding day attire, because hey, it’s your day too. Wear a suit jacket that isn’t the exact same color as your slacks, wear a felt hat, un tuck your shirt, scrap wearing a tie, be bold by wearing bold colors, grow out your beard, smoke a cigar, drink some whiskey, show your tattoos and let’s celebrate your love for your beautiful bride.

Beth + Paul

Beth and Paul are one of those couples that is always smiling. Their love is so apparent and honest. Paul's whit and sarcasm will make anyone laugh so hard they cry, if you have seen his greeting cards you know what I mean. Paul took on the task of creating all of the paper goods and signage for the day, which gave it the most perfect personal touch. The signage at the wedding was done in his handwriting as were the 200 place cards with each person's name.

The food, holy smokes, the food. Jonathan Power is truly an incredible chef. He prepared oysters w/ caviar, slow roasted pork shoulder, a fingerling potato salad, along with all the accoutrements you could dream of. Let's also not forgot about the incredible salted carmel chocolate gluten free cupcakes made my Samm from Rootdown, I may have had 3, shhh don't tell.

Beth's father married the couple and the ceremony was so intimate and romantic, there was not a dry eye in the place. You could really feel the love and support from their friends and family. Once the dancing started every single person hit the dance floor, which is usually pretty rare. The dance party was even extended an hour to keep the celebration going. Where's the "do-over" button so we can relive this amazing day?!

A Garden Love Affair

Highlands Ranch Mansion is a dream venue for any bride looking to relive her 5 year old wedding day fantasies. We came together with Ali & Garrett Photography, Park Floral Design, and other amazing vendors to create this modern fairytale.

Bright pops of color in the florals and vintage rentals from House of Yonder brought the tangy, fun, spring elements. We absolutely adored working with Ashley Swapp from Park Floral Design. Her creations are unbelievably stunning.

Organic, vintage with a modern twist, romantic, farm-to-table, and bright pops of color were the driving factors behind the styling of this shoot. Given the main themes, the vendors were then asked to interpret and create their own vision. After all, we LOVE seeing what people create when they are given the freedom to do so. We could have not been happier with the way our vision was brought to life. A huge thank you to the talented Ali Brannan of Ali & Garrett Photography. The way the light is captured in these oh so romantic photos warms our hearts.

Christian + Cody

This was a wedding week for the record books!

Christian and Cody planned a week in paradise with 150 of their closest friends and family. We were lucky enough to be included in the adventure. The wedding week was held in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. We spent 5 days in absolute paradise at an all-inclusive resort. The itinerary was packed full with bachelor/bachelorette festivities, beach days, a Mexican fiesta welcome party, a small intimate rehearsal dinner at a local fish shack, and a remarkably beautiful ceremony on the beaches of Mexico. Seeing that it was November and most of the guests are from Colorado, it was an amazing escape to the tropics to celebrate the love of two amazing people.

PS we are also lucky enough to call Christian and Cody friends.

The ceremony was held on the beautiful white sand beach, where all the guests said cheers to the bride and groom with champagne following the "I dos". After the ceremony the guests were escorted to the top terrace of the resort for cocktail hour where a mariachi band played traditional mariachi music. Following cocktail hour was a formal sit down dinner and dance party. This wedding was absolutely breathtaking and we are so happy we were included.

If you are planning a destination wedding, think about including LBW, we love to travel.

Rocky Mountain Family Shoot

I'm having one of those "how can it possibly be January" years where time seems to simply disappear. Our little #babymeyers sweetheart is now a year old and we've yet to have a professional picture taken since he was a newborn. Where do we find the time to get this done? Answer: multi-task. We are headed to Denver for work and decide on a whim to try one of our favorite wedding vendors, Jess Purple Photography. YES! She has time while we are in town. This is GREAT. Not only do we get to further our relationship professionally but we also get to take some bomb pictures personally. (If you remember the Christian + Cody engagement party, her husband was the genius behind those pictures).  Jess suggests we meet at Mount Falcon Park, which is the perfect spot to capture the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. The best part is that with our traveling and moving between Montana and Wyoming, it is the one place that always feels like home.

Problem. Just SECONDS before our arrival our little man falls asleep. No amount of goofy faces, dancing, singing or joking can keep his eyes open. This is no good. We have to wake him up and our perfect shoot is going to be a big bummer. But wait, it is not so!!! Jess is amazing. We do a quick session while the lighting is right and we are on our way. We kept thinking poor Jess, there is no way we got a good picture, all of this for nothing.

Let me tell you how wrong we were. Jess got the pictures back to us almost instantly, provided us with WAY more quality shots than we thought was possible with a grumpy #babymeyers AND went over and above just by meeting us so last minute.

Denver friends, you have to check her out. She and her husband Matt are the coolest cats around. We loved them and we know that you'll love them too.
